Feminist and Equality Activists Say: No to War, No to the Islamic Republic

In the early hours of June 13, the devastation of Israel’s military campaign reached Iranian soil, marking a dangerous escalation in regional violence. After months of brutal bombardment in Gaza and ongoing violations of international law, Israel has now initiated direct military strikes inside Iran.
Meanwhile, the Islamic Republic has responded not with measures to protect its citizens, but by fueling the flames of conflict, continuing a decades-long pursuit of uranium enrichment that has only deepened economic hardship and political repression for millions of Iranians.
Today, it is clearer than ever: neither the warmongers cheering Israeli airstrikes nor the defenders of the Islamic Republic serve the cause of freedom, justice, or dignity in Iran. War profiteers, whether in positions of power or in media networks—undermine the foundations of peace and grassroots civic movements. They obscure the real cost of war: the suffering of civilians, especially women and children, and the weakening of nonviolent resistance and civil society.
In the face of this two-front assault -- by patriarchal regimes bent on destruction -- we, a coalition of Iranian feminist and pro-equality activists, call on all Iranians to recommit to the principles of the Women, Life, Freedom movement. War brings devastation, displacement, economic collapse, and heightened repression of political and civil activists. It threatens everything we have struggled to build.
We reaffirm our responsibility to nurture the women’s movement in Iran, to defend civil resistance, and to oppose militarism, authoritarianism, and the violence they unleash.
We call for collective action around these three urgent demands:
- Condemn Israel’s military aggression against Iran
- Organize sustained resistance to the spread of war across the Middle East
- Support the Iranian people’s struggle against the tyranny of the Islamic Republic and the destruction of war
