The Halvash human rights news agency reports alarming developments regarding Mansour Dehmardeh and Farshid Hasan Zehi, both Baluch citizens facing execution in Iran.
Mansour Dehmardeh's Case:
Mansour Dehmardeh was detained on October 3, 2022, in Zahedan by intelligence forces. Subsequently, on January 3, 2023, he received a death sentence from the Shahid Nouri court in Zahedan for "Corruption on Earth." Reports indicate that Mr. Dehmardeh suffered extreme torture while in custody, resulting in severe physical injuries. His fundamental rights, including access to medical care and family contact, have been grossly violated.
In his trial, Mr. Dehmardeh stated he had only "thrown three stones" and "set fire to a tire." The court's response, equating any opposition to the government with a death-worthy offense, is deeply concerning. German Parliament member Anikó Glogowski has publicly called for the annulment of Dehmardeh's sentence.
Farshid Hasan Zehi's Case:
Farshid Hasan Zehi was arrested on November 24, 2022, in Cheshmeh Ziarat village, Zahedan. Despite evidence of his presence at his workplace during the alleged offense, Mr. Hasan Zehi was tried virtually, without legal representation, and sentenced to death. Reports of coerced confessions and solitary confinement in Zahedan Central Prison highlight the grave injustices in his case.
The "Women, Life, Freedom" protests and the increasing execution rates in Baluchistan, as reported by the Iran Human Rights Organization, paint a disturbing picture of systemic oppression. Baluchistan has an alarmingly high execution rate, with 174 Baluch prisoners executed last year alone.
This petition seeks to amplify international awareness and media focus on the cases of Mansour Dehmardeh and Farshid Hasan Zehi. We urge an impartial investigation into these cases and demand the immediate revocation of their death sentences. Let's join together to prevent these imminent executions and bring about change.
