Providing Bail for Detained Students

Students are the valuable assets of our country. Unfortunately, many have been arrested for solidarity with the people's protest movement. Instead of attending university classes, their precious time is spent in prison.
According to the statistics of Hrana Human Rights Agency, during the first eighty-two days of the protests, 605 freedom-loving students were arrested throughout Iran. On December 11, 2022, a group of family members issued a statement. It said, "We, the families of the detained students, after the daily follow-ups, unfortunately, have not seen any determination to help our children. We are watching the passage of months in front of the country's prisons, and we see our children, who are the future of every society, lose the best years of their lives, which they can spend on the construction and development of our beloved country, behind bars.
Imprisoned students should be released unconditionally. But the judiciary is stubbornly seeking revenge.
Heavy bail has been set for many imprisoned students. In the city of Mashhad, according to a report by the Students Union Councils, 33 students at Ferdowsi University were issued bail of 500 million to 2 billion tomans. Some are free on bail, and some are still in jail.
Many students and their families do not have the financial ability to pay the bail. My address in this petition is in the spirit of citizens' cooperation. Just as support committees are formed in solidarity with striking workers, we can, with the help of Student Union Councils and conscientious lawyers, create a network of support funds and, by collecting financial aid or loans, act to bail out students without financial means.
Our effort would not be only a charitable act but also a form of organizing and consolidating popular resistance for the victory of our freedom movement. We need citizen-cooperative institutions to achieve democracy. Let's join hands and collect bail for imprisoned students while observing the necessary safety measures.
