Toomaj Salehi’s Life Is in Danger
Toomaj Salehi is a famous Iranian rap artist and singer who was arrested on October 29, 2022, for supporting Iranian protests. His songs are about government corruption, people's poverty, and the desire for freedom. He has always tried to be the voice of Iranians against injustice. He is a dissident artist, arrested only for protesting and using the right to freedom of expression to strengthen the voice of the Iranian people. Toomaj is now in danger of the death penalty.
The following signatories ask the judiciary of the Islamic Republic to recognize the right to freedom of expression of every Iranian:
1- To stop making a false case against Toomaj Salehi.
2- Adhere to the international covenants of civil and political rights and the prohibition of torture, which was compiled based on the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
3- Hold a public trial with a jury and recognize Toomaj Salehi's legal and legitimate right to choose a defense lawyer.

Update, December 30, 2022Attorney Amir Raisian wrote in a tweet, "The duty of legal defense by me and my colleague, Mrs. Roza Etemad Ansari, was accepted [by the court] in the case of Mr. Toomaj Salehi, a part of the case has been studied by my colleague. In the coming days, the entire case will be studied, and we will meet with the client."
