November 20, 2020My name is Fatemeh Khoshroo, and I am urgently seeking protection from the United Nations and international human rights organizations. My life is in danger, and I need your assistance in filing a formal complaint against the Iranian authorities who have threatened me and attempted to coerce me into participating in a kidnapping plot.
In November 2019, I was arrested in Khoramabad because my fiancé is an American who served in the U.S. Army. I was detained for 18 days in Khoramabad Prison before being transferred to Evin Prison, where I endured 34 days of interrogation, torture, and forced confessions. The authorities pressured me to collaborate with them, and after this, I was moved to the women’s section of the prison and eventually released on bail.
The Iranian authorities then instructed me to travel to Turkey and lure my fiancé to a location of their choosing so they could arrest him. While I was in Turkey, my trial took place in Iran, and I was sentenced to one year in prison.
The authorities have threatened to increase my sentence to 10 to 15 years if I refuse to cooperate with them in this kidnapping scheme. If I comply, they have promised to limit my sentence to one year. I am under immense pressure, but I cannot and will not participate in kidnapping my fiancé.
I am pleading for your help to save my life. I am living under constant threat, and I urgently need your protection.
