We bring urgent attention to the case of Sayyad Darvishi, a 29-year-old resident of Urmia, who was forcibly taken by the security forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran on November 7, 2023. As of now, there has been a concerning lack of information regarding his whereabouts. Sayyad is the older brother of Farjad Darvishi, a 23-year-old Kurdish citizen tragically killed by security forces during the "Women, Life, Freedom" protests in 2022 in Vali Asr town.
The Darvishi family has faced threats from the authorities and has been met with evasion and intimidation when seeking information about Sayyad. Despite their persistent efforts, the Urmia County Information Department has refused to disclose any details, further heightening the family's distress.
Sayyad, since his detention, has been denied legal representation and the right to family visits, raising serious concerns about his welfare and the legality of his detention. It appears that his arrest is an attempt to fabricate charges and silence his voice as a Kurdish citizen.
Sayyad Darvishi is innocent of wrongdoing, and we demand his immediate and unconditional release. His continued detention without charge is a grave injustice, and we urge the judicial authorities to uphold the rule of law and respect human rights.
